Rawalpindi board thrashed rival Lahore in a very close tie by 2-1 and won the championship crown of All Pakistan Inter-Board Boys tennis championship organized by Rawalpindi Education Board at Islamabad Tennis Complex.
Eleven education boards including Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Gujranwala, Hyderadad, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Inter Board Karachi, Islamabad and Secondary Board Karachi are taking part in three-day event.
In the first Singles of the final encounter, Jabran-ul-Haq from Rawalpindi totally dominated Ahmed Aslam from Lahore in all departments. Through pinpoint serves, blistering return of serves, and sonic forehands, backhands, cross court, and down the lines, Jabran never allowed Ahmed to settle down, and won the one sided final of first singles by 6-0 and 7-5.
Waqas Malik from Lahore outclassed Sadaan-ul-Haq with a surprising victory in the second singles by 2-1. Waqas won the match at the score of 7-6(2) 5-7 and 7-5.
In doubles final Jabran-ul-Haq and Sadaan-ul-Haq from Rawalpindi beat Ahmed Aslam and Waqas Malik from Lahore in a very close tie by 2-1 and won the championship title for Rawalpindi. Rawalpindi won the double event by 6-2, 4-6 and 7-5 that lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Earlier in the semifinal round Host Rawalpindi and Lahore thrashed Islamabad and Hyderabad to reaches in the final.
In the first semi final between sister cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad, host team got a wonderful victory after beating Islamabad by 2-0. Saddan-ul-Haq (Rawalpindi) produced a consistent base line play to oust Kahwain Javed by 6-0, 6-1 while Faizan-ul-Haq (Rawalpindi) thrashed Faique Sohail from Islamabad in straight sets by 6-0 and 6-2 to qualify for the final.
Lahore outclassed Hyderabad by 2-0 in the second semi final to reaches in the final. Waqas Malik from Lahore beat Annas Khan (Hyderabad) by 6-3, 6-0 and Ali Shahzeb beat Zubaid Gul by 6-2 and 6-1 respectively.
On day one Lahore outclassed Peshawar by 2-0. Waqas Malik (Lahore) beat Sanaullah (Peshawar) by 6-1 and 6-3, while Ali Shah Zaib (Lahore) beat Muhammad Qasim by 6-2and 6-3.
Rawlpindi Board thrashed Inter Board Karachi to reaches in the second round. Rawalpindi players Fazan-ul-Haq won match against Shoaib by (6-2, 6-4) and Sadaam-ul-Haq won his match against Ali from Karachi by 6-1 and 6-3.
In the third match Ali Zubair (Islamabad) won againt Faizan Fayyaz Karachi by 6-4, 6-3 and Murtaza Shoaib (Islamabad) thrashed Saad Shah (Karachi) 6-5 and 6-2.
Professor Humayun Iqbal, Secretary of BISE Rawalpindi was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony and distributed the medals and shields among the participants while Director sports BISE Rawalpindi Raja Tasleem Kayani, PTF secretary Major( Retd ) Rashid Khan also present on the occasion.
