Apropos the cover story published in your magazine titled, ‘Blame it on Al Qaeda’ I would like to add a few comments of mine to it. It was great to see media carrying on with the spirit of freedom of press under such trying circumstances.
The conflicting statements coming from the official quarters regarding the cause of the former prime minister of Pakistan and chairperson Pakistan People’s Party’s death makes the already saddened nation further confused and upset.
The inability to catch the culprits by the state machinery in spite of their claims that they have taped the conversation of the terrorist involved leaves many questions and raise several doubts.
It is this attitude of making a controversy out of every sensitive issue that carries its toll for decades. It is imperative that the real culprits be brought to justice.
Keeping in view the fact that there is a nation wide out cry regarding freedom of media and freedom of judiciary a fair perspective on the sensitive issue is very difficult to surface any time soon.
