It is sad that the opposition parties missed the opportunity of making common cause with those engaged in the struggle against the forces of repression. The only politician who seems to have risen to the occasion is Imran Khan. Time will vindicate this stand and show us how wise it was. Imran Khan has a stature, unlike the political pygmies in Pakistan today. He has a much bigger role to play, regardless of whether he is in active politics or not. The Tehreek-e-Insaf remains movement for social justice and equality, and as such its role is not restricted to mere seats in parliament. It has a moral force and authority that it can exert for the public good at all levels.
