I believe that credible, free and fair elections can only be held under an independent election commission, which can function only in the presence of an independent judiciary. Otherwise, the entire election process will be a farce.
I suspect if real and genuine democracy can be restored after the January 2008 general elections if they are held by the less-than-credible election commission.
