People are also facing sugar crisis as the prices have increased manifold. Large number of sugar mills are own by parliamentarians, directly or indirectly they are responsible for burgeoning crisis. Again the government failed to bring price down at the normal level and left the consumers to pay undue prices of the commodity.
Though its seems that the political drama, staged by actors hailing from parties that are component of ruling collation, has calmed down the boiling mercury but the question still remains that for how long because the economic woes of this country's poor compounded in 62 year will not be resolved in just 45 days or by protecting rotten system.

The incumbent government has failed and failed miserably on many fronts most important being the economic. Commoners of this country question that who is ruling this country practically either politicians or businessmen. The form of government is democratic, rule of people, or plutocratic, rule by wealthy?

So far the action of this government show that it acts as a manager of powerful businessmen/industrialists who are using and have used official functionaries to multiply their wealth overnight. Events taken place during last three years show that instead of improving the situation it has deteriorated in fact. The country remained in the grip of crisis, if one calmed down another surfaced.

All crisis stem from economic woes and the role of the government remained those of silent spectators. Government did not bother to address the problems of people suffering from all artificial crisis, even it played to protect the interests of plutocrats, owners of sugar mills, flour mills, car assemblers, feudal lords. Government did not withstand the pressure from these quarters.

Most recent example is the announcement of government to allow the import of five years old recondition cars instead of three years. As soon as the announcement came out the powerful lobby of car assemblers start pressurizing government and it succumbed to their wishes, resultantly the order was taken back and people were left at the mercy of profiteers.

The auto assembler had enjoyed unprecedented patronage and made hefty profits during Musharraf's regime. After his departure the consumers in Pakistan had expected better policy decision from the government but for no avail. Recently Pakistan Competition Commission took notice of the malpractices but the powerful cartel managed to continue the game of profit making.

The government is responsible to create level playing field for all stakeholders in the country and check malpractices in the economy that no one should be allowed to make undue advantage of any situation. The prices of cars in all other countries are much lower and their quality is much higher than those being assembled in this country. To achieve genuine growth and discourage element of undue profit making government will have to play its role. Government must allow import of used cars because local assemblers have increased prices unjustifiably and failed to achieve localization as they had promised.

People are also facing sugar crisis as the prices have increased manifold. Large number of sugar mills are own by parliamentarians, directly or indirectly they are responsible for burgeoning crisis. Again the government failed to bring price down at the normal level and left the consumers to pay undue prices of the commodity.

Flour crisis, despite bumper wheat crop, forced people to spent their most of time to get a bag of flour. Many were killed in the process while many suffered humiliation at the hands of distributors or police but remained failed get one. The crisis is not over yet as profiteers are planning to plunder in the name of shortage.

Due to malpractices the prices of all essential commodities have increased to the level that poor can not afford to buy anymore. In a situation where inflation is on the rise, security situation is worsening, people expect drastic steps from the government to protect their interests rather than those of millers.

The incumbent government always justifies its major action be it dialogue with the political parties or decision to obey IMF demands in the name of "saving system". But the question germinating in many minds is why a system that rests on a morally bankrupt, intellectually poor, politically self-serving, culturally bigoted and financially corrupt ruling elite comprising politicians, bureaucracy, feudal lords, generals be protected.

In a bid to protect corrupt system the government is vitalizing terrorism in this country. Tired of fraudulent politics of elite and sick of poverty, a large section of Pakistanis have begun to rally behind the religious fundamentalists, a sign of more instability in the country. Instead of hurling warnings, ultimatums and deadlines people want to see some solid action that can lead to reduce their sufferings.

NA-121 Lahore has been in the grip of the PML-N since 1985, but evolving ground realties in the constituency, including the surfacing of the PTI as a new political force and the re-entry of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) into electoral politics, ensures a tough electoral contest on May 11. In the past three elections, the PML-N and the JI coalition has won this seat. But in the upcoming polls, the ri

District Swat gives a new look with regard to 2013 elections as unlike 2008 elections when the law and order situation was very serious due to Maulana Fazlullah factor and only small portion of voters participated in them.
