Dirty game against Pakistan

Despite the fact that it is an attempt to materialize the withdrawal of US and coalition forces from Afghanistan without much disgrace, things are not in the hands of those running the show. A corps commanders’ conference was held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on May 5 under General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Army Staff (COAS). It was a one-point agenda – the Abbottabad incident – in which Osama Bin Laden was killed by US forces. There was a detailed discussion about the incident and its implications for military-to-military relations with the United States. Although shortcomings in developing intelligence on the presence of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan were admitted, the achievements of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) were also highlighted which spoke of the other side of the story. However, the military authorities have ordered an investigation to look into the circumstances that led to the situation. The COAS made it very clear that any similar action, violating the sovereignty of Pakistan, will warrant a review at the level of military/intelligence cooperation with the United States. We should not forget that a similar warning was also issued to Washington in the past but without any result
It is nothing but powerful psychological operations against the institutions and leadership in Pakistan. In the US Special Forces’ operation in Abbottabad, the same CIA operatives who confirmed weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and Afghanistan confirmed the killing of al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden. No one is going to believe them, as even back in Washington there are serious doubts about this success story.

Despite the fact that it is an attempt to materialize the withdrawal of US and coalition forces from Afghanistan without much disgrace, things are not in the hands of those running the show. The COAS made it very clear that any similar action, violating the sovereignty of Pakistan, will warrant a review at the level of military/intelligence cooperation with the United States. We should not forget that a similar warning was also issued to Washington in the past but without any result.

It is important to mention here that in the backdrop of unofficial warnings about the possibility of a similar hostile action against our strategic assets, the COAS made it clear that Pakistan’s strategic assets were well-protected and an elaborate defensive mechanism was in place. One wonders Pakistani nuclear arsenal is comparatively much safer than that of US or any other country. We had an excellent example of the US security when its highly secure Pentagon was targeted without any knowledge of those behind the high technology radars and scanner as part of star war programme. Not only the Pentagon was hit as sitting duck, but also over 300 US officers were also killed in the attack. The defeat of US in Afghanistan despite a coalition of over 43 countries is a rare example where a handful of Mujahideen without any modern weapon and equipment have forced the US to withdraw with humiliation.

In fact, the US claims to be a democratic country but it is nothing more than a beast adopting undemocratic, dictatorial and inhuman laws. We have the example how they disrespected the bodies of those who opposed them claiming that their crime was holding extremist views. No doubt, countries like the US have not only caused tremendous loss to the world peace, but also the worst example of fascism. The mass graves in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq are not hidden from satellite thermal images. The disfigured, disrespected and burned bodies of the Muslims of Afghanistan can still be checked from Al Jazeera’s coverage. One really feels pity for these so-called civilized nations which have attempted to destroy every divine religion in the world.

The enemies of Pakistan are no doubt quite successful in damaging our respected institutions. CIA Director Leon Panetta in a statement before the lawmakers said that Washington was trying to get to the bottom of Pakistan's "troubling" role in their professed ignorance about the whereabouts of Al-Qaeda chief. He said: "Either they were involved or incompetent. Neither place is a good place to be". Honestly, speaking the statement goes true with those who claim to be US Intelligence agents. Various statement from Pakistani authorities are being published in the print and electronic media in an attempt to try to defuse the impression that the US helicopters’ undetected flight into Pakistan was also facilitated by the mountainous terrain, efficacious use of latest technology and “nap of the earth” flying techniques. Whatever is claimed by the US is supported by the channels and print media, it is neither the technology nor the superiority of the US forces that led the US helicopters to come near Pakistan Military Academy or civilian houses in Abbottabad but the fact remains that the US is a partner of Pakistan in the war on terrorism and they are often considered as friends. The episode has remarkable resemblance with the attack on US military Headquarters “Pentagon” and Intelligence hub “Twin Towers” on September 11.

Our forces are alert and are capable enough to defend every inch of their motherland. Let no one be mistaken that despite an ugly attempt by the enemies of Pakistan to defame Pakistan armed forces, every loyal Pakistani loves them and is sure that the past leader who acted foolishly was in fact an agent of enemies. One wonders, Pakistan armed forces along with every patriotic Pakistani is capable of defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.

NA-121 Lahore has been in the grip of the PML-N since 1985, but evolving ground realties in the constituency, including the surfacing of the PTI as a new political force and the re-entry of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) into electoral politics, ensures a tough electoral contest on May 11. In the past three elections, the PML-N and the JI coalition has won this seat. But in the upcoming polls, the ri
On May 19, the residents of NA-250, PS-112 and PS-113 constituencies of Karachi polled their votes afresh in 43 out of 180 polling stations in a relatively peaceful environment ensured by the army. The Election Commission of Pakistan [ECP] postponed polling on May 11 in 43 polling stations of NA-250, PS-112 and PS-113 constituencies due to widespread complaints of rigging and irregularities and
Polling in Balochistan was not as violent as expected – at least on the polling day itself. Though a dozen of people died in attacks of various kinds but things could so easily have been worse in the most troubled of our provinces. Certainly the run-up to the elections had not been encouraging at all, with bomb blasts, targeted killings and other forms of death and terror striking frequently a
The upcoming KP government will be facing over Rs20 billion deficit in the next financial budget, making it almighty difficult for it to run the financial matters of the province because since the caretakers took over at the centre they province was paid less than Rs15 billion from the divisible pool.
