Time to respect rights of Baloch people
January 07, 2011
Plagued by the serious problems of law and order, forced disappearances, kidnappings for ransom and a foreign-funded and executed separatist movement, Balochistan always remained the focus of world powers due to its vast natural resources and geographical location.
It is now being viewed as the important trading point for the world in the foreseeable future. We just need to choose the right way to fight for the sovereignty of the country because now is the time to work for its betterment and do away with the politics of sloganeering. The only way to overcome the numerous problems is to solve all burning issues on the basis of justice and fair play or the country will lose its integrity.

Perhaps the establishment of All Parties Coordination Committee for launching joint efforts to resolve all burning issues in Balochistan could be the turning point for sovereignty of the country. As 2010 has passed with brutal memories of deformed bodies dumped on the roadsides and in jungles, target killings and forced arrests and disappearances, Balochistan National Party (BNP) organized an All Parties Conference in the provincial capital - Quetta - in which National Party (NP), Pakhtoon Milli Awami Party (PMAP), Jamiat-e-Islami (JI), Tehrik-e-Insaf and Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) participated.
BNP Acting President Dr Jehanzeb Jamaluddin, Pakhtoonkhwa Awami Milli Party Secretary Abdul Rauf Lala, Awami National Party Central Vice President Arbab Zahir Khan Kasi, Jamiat-e-Islami provincial Amir, Hazara Democratic Party Chairman Abdul Khaliq, Hazara National Party Central Vice President Dr Iskhaq Baloch, Jamiat Ahl-e-Sunat Sikandar Sultan, General Secretary of Balochistan Bar Association Aminullah Kakar, Central Trade Association, Balochistan, President Abdur Raheem Kakar, Ihtesham Khan from Tehrik-e-Insaf, Baloch Students Organization Central Secretary General Javed Baloch and others participated in the conference.
Addressing the conference, the leaders of respective parties expressed concern over the target-killings, abduction of innocent people and violation of human rights in the province. They said security forces and establishment were busy eliminating Baloch people and there was no sign of governance in the province. They said the leaders sitting in Islamabad always violated the rights of Baloch, Pakhtoon, Sindhi and Seraiki people and were busy looting the natural resources of Balochistan.
They said the only solution to the problems of Balochistan lay in withdrawal of security forces and giving the Baloch people full freedom to use their resources and all those rights being availed of by their brethren in the three other provinces. Condemning target killings, violations of human rights and forced disappearances, they demanded end to the military operation going on in different areas of Balochistan. They said Pakistan was a multi-cultured country in which Baloch, Pakhtoons, Sindhis and Seraikis had their own rights as a nation, but unfortunately, the military and civil rulers from Islamabad always violated their rights. They said Baloch and Pakhtoons were two nations and living in the region for decades and they should play their vital role to put a full stop to the ongoing violation of human rights in the province.
The participants of the conference also condemned the incidents of kidnapping for ransom and blamed that all such activities were being carried out with the support of security agencies. They warned that if solid steps were not taken, then the Balochistan situation would exacerbate to the detriment of the motherland.
