The reasons behind the unsuccessful anti-polio campaign in the country are as follows:

1. The areas in which the polio campaign is underway are being used by foreign powers just for the fulfillment of their own cause. Already built bridges, buildings and other governmental institutions are targeted with bombs. UNICEF KPK Incharge Doctor Bilal told that polio campaign became ineffective in tribal areas and KPK because of the security reasons. He added that around twenty-four new cases in KPK and seventy-four new cases in tribal areas have been registered during 2010. He linked the success of polio campaign with the better security circumstances.

2. Secondly, people are unaware of the value of polio drops in the lives of their children. The basic reason behind this is the low literacy rate. People stress on financial help first.

3. The point of view of the religious people has been changed dramatically and they openly take part in anti-polio campaigns. This change came with the help of National Research and Development Foundation and the local scholars. Chairman of the foundation Tehsin Ullah Khan said that removing their doubts and uncompromising attitudes were troublesome and were more than a great challenge. He added that around 1808 scholars are taking part in this campaign and with their 2073 addresses highlighted the value of polio vaccination and 3480 families called it illegal previously. Launching of Conferences and 98 media-briefings in every district whereas 880 press releases are sent.

Preparations for the three day anti-polio campaign would start from tomorrow. But unfortunately the wave of terror in KPK has played a vital role in curbing the polio campaign to a standstill. The campaign launches after every forty days with the help of UNICEF under the sponsorship of PPI. This campaign is underway in India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria presently and it would remain in Pakistan till the end of 2011.

Doctors say, in the light of Polio diseases, that in the area of five kilometer polio virus can travel from an affected child to a healthy one. Resultantly, it can disable the child’s feet or both hands. He may lead to his death as well. If polio drops would be given at the same instant then it could be controlled. And the way Pakistan compromised with the worldly-agreement and purged small-pox from the country, anti-polio campaign may help them to cleanse the menace of polio from the country.

Unfortunately, several kids due to some reasons failed to receive polio drops every year that is why its not giving 100pc results. According to the experts, in general the Polio drops that are given to the children are usually taken from the polio affected children, the attacking polio viruses affect the immunity system and disable the patient.

Those children who already received polio drops are in low risk. Children are given drops of Vitamin-A along with polio drops. Low Vitamin-A in the body weakens the immunity system. Resultantly, child may suffer total blindness along with many other diseases of eyes. The level of Vit-A lowers in the body till the age of five. Its level could be maintained with proper breast feeding and suitable food. The above said problem could be solved only when children are given polio drops along with Vitamin-A drops.

The largest pile of Vitamin-A exists in liver and it keeps four to six months stock in it. Its suitable presence may help to lower 50pc deaths in chicken-pox, 33pc in dehydration, and 23pc on the whole.

The reasons behind the unsuccessful anti-polio campaign in the country are as follows:

JUI’s leader Moulana Fazal-ur-Rehman wrote a letter to all provincial ministers three years earlier to help in polio eradication. His letter helped us a lot and remained very productive in running the campaign. Special advisor and Former Ambassador Jalaluddin Advocate is also a part of this promotional anti-polio movement. He added that the involvement of preachers and reverends in the movement have erased the doubts fro the minds of the masses. We need the participation of all factions in anti-polio campaign, in this way we would be able to washout the menace of polio from Pakistan.

NA-121 Lahore has been in the grip of the PML-N since 1985, but evolving ground realties in the constituency, including the surfacing of the PTI as a new political force and the re-entry of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) into electoral politics, ensures a tough electoral contest on May 11. In the past three elections, the PML-N and the JI coalition has won this seat. But in the upcoming polls, the ri
