The deteriorating law and order, separatist movement and growing sense of deprivation is threatening Balochistan’s stability. Decomposed bodies, kidnapping for ransom and security forces unremitting actions against militants have become a routine matter. Bullet-riddled bodies are found in Balochistan as agencies continue their kill and dump policy while Baloch insurgents have intensified attacks on infrastructure.
A shutter-down strike was observed in several districts of Balochistan the other day in protest against an alleged search operation in the Tutak area of Khuzdar district. The strike was called by the Baloch Students Organisation-Azad (BSO) which claimed the life of two of its activists. Several others were arrested during the alleged operation carried out by paramilitary troops. The strike was backed by various Baloch nationalist parties.
Business centers remained closed in Khuzdar, Kalat, Mashkey, Awaran, Hub, Pasni and Turbat. Most shops, including pharmacies, were closed and roads presented a deserted look. Many schools and colleges in these towns also remained closed.
Meanwhile, Qalandarani and Sumalani tribesmen staged a demonstration at Quetta Press Club condemning the operation in Khuzdar. “The (security) forces have failed to take action against Baloch insurgent groups and are avenging their failure by killing unarmed and innocent people,” a protester said. Others chanted slogans against the government, accusing it of killing innocent people. They said the government could not win the loyalty of the Baloch tribes by using brute force.

They chanted full throated slogans against the government and local administration and expressed their grave concern about the unprovoked incident. Sardar Zehri condemned hand grenade attacks on Baloch students.
Member Central Committee of PML-N, chief of Jhalawan and provincial minister Sardar Sanaullah Zehri said that no civilized society allows such cruel acts on unarmed and oppressed people. He also expressed solidarity with the relatives of students killed and injured in the attack.
President Balochistan National Party and former chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal strongly condemned Khuzdar incident and termed it the beginning of a new operation in Balochistan. He said the rulers were trying to sabotage the Baloch movement and launched the genocide of Baloch nation. He said the incumbent government was powerless and the real power brokers would never accept Balochistan and Baloch people.
On the other hand, Baloch separatist leader Khan of Kalat Khan Suleman Daud Khan has started politics in London after a long time. Daud said that the provincial government could not shift the blame to anyone for what was happening in Balochistan? “Nawab Magsi, Nawab Raisani, and Sardar Sanaullah are equally responsible for the killing of Baloch nation; it is my advice to them to quit from the government,” he said.
Talking to a news agency over phone, he said violation of law, traditions and customs of Balochistan, killing of political activists in prison and recovery of bullet-riddled bodies of Baloch youth were the gifts of Zardari-led PPP government. “Who apologized to the Baloch nation for what should not have happened in Balochistan and also announced Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan package, but rather than healing the wounds of Baloch nation, he increased their wounds.” He said the incidents of Balochistan spoke of involvement of Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi, Nawab Aslam Raisani and Sardar Sanaullah. The Khan of Kalat said he was surprised that Baloch political leaders were involved in what was happening in Balochistan. They would be accused by nation in case they remained part of the government, which is not good for the tribal traditions, he added.
The Khan of Kalat suggested to the Baloch leadership to play their due role and quit the ruling government. He paid tribute to the martyred Baloch leaders Nawab Noraiz, Nawab Bugti, Ali Muhammad, Long Khan, Asad Mengal and Balaj Marri and said they were part of history. He also paid tribute to all those mothers who gave birth to the great leaders of the history.
Daud made it clear to the state that the killing of Baloch nation would fuel the struggle of the right of self-determination. He said some black sheep from inside the country were involved in what was happening in Balochistan. He said besides the foreign hand, they were responsible for the killing of innocent Baloch people. He said the international community was well aware of what was happening in Balochistan against the Baloch nation and it was due to this reasons that the Baloch leaders were staying abroad.
