The history of Pakistan cricket in the disciplinary issues were not very good as Pakistan Cricket Board heads in past not taking strong actions to maintain their players code of conduct as well as to break the players powers.
The players like Shoaib Akhtar, Inzimam ul Haq, Amir Sohail, Wasim Akram and others which broken the these code of conduct and appeared in the night clubs and other light night activities and no action taken against them while the players power issue is the one of big problem in the national cricket team facing lot of difficulties at the every stage of cricket history.
"PCB has been criticised for being ineffective in the past in the context of discipline. It would now appear an attempt by some forces to prevent the board from implementing the code of conduct may well damage Pakistan Cricket, if they continue to lend support to Afridi and exert undue pressure on PCB for their 'non-cricketing' interests."
The PCB current administration trying their best to no compromise on disciplinary matters and taken strict actions against violators including Shahid Afridi, Salman Butt, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir, the leading players for Pakistan but PCB never gave them any relaxation on any issue.
After the consultation, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the central contracts for 23 players where former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal are out of the new list as well as |five additional ‘stipend’ slots have been awarded.
PCB has given the central contracts to all players for six months which will conclude on December 2011. Former captain Younis Khan, who was banned for disciplinary reasons following a winless tour of Australia in 2009-10 and was out of last year's list, has been awarded a Category A contract as well as five other top players including Pakistan’s current captain Misbah-ul-Haq, all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, spinners Abdur Rehman, Saeed Ajmal and fast bowler Umar Gul rated in A category in PCB central contract list.
Kamran Akmal’s Brother Umar Akmal, opener Imran Farhat, Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz were retained in Category B. middle order batsman Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq giving very impressive performances in the last few series win the slot of B category.
Fast bowlers Tanvir Ahmed, Junaid Khan, Sohail Khan, All rounder Hammad Azam, wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmad, Yasir Shah and Rameez Raja got the C category of PCB central contacts. Pakistan Cricket Board also gave the stipend to five players including Mohammad Talha, Aizaz Cheema, Zulfiqar Babar, Raza Hassan and Mohammad Ayub Dogar.
Involvement in the spot fixing, all the three banned cricketers Salman Butt, Muhammad Amir and Muhammad Asif were not picked for the contract list while world cup 2011 captain Shahid Afridi who retired conditionally from international cricket following his removal as captain after the tour of West Indies and also involved in a legal battle with the Pakistan cricket board after he hinted at differences between him and coach Waqar Younis during the West Indies tour was dropped to select in any of one central contract category. Wicket keeper Kamran Akmal , who also was in Category A last year, all rounder Shoaib Malik, middle order batsman Mohammad Yousuf and leg spinner Danish Kaneria were also not picked for next six months. PCB not given the contracts to Shoaib Malik and Danish Kaneria, as both players at yet to be cleared by the PCB's integrity committee. Danish Kaneria has not played for the national team since August 2010, after the PCB tightened its anti-corruption programme following the spot-fixing controversy and Kaneria's own entanglement in a corruption case in Essex.
On the other hand chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board selection committee Mohsin Khan said that PCB has no agenda against senior players as the current selection committee giving the chance to young blood to perform better.
Talking about the team selection for Zimbabwe tour, he said that team selected on merit basis and the selection committee is working on a simple policy that any player who is doing well should get a chance.
The selection committee also rewarded some of their consistent performers in domestic cricket by including three uncapped players - top-order batsman Rameez Raja, legspinner Yasir Shah, fast bowler Aizaz Cheema, Sohail Khan, which selected in the national squad against the Zimbabwe series which starts from August 28. There are also recalls for opening batsman Imran Farhat, who hasn't played for Pakistan since the one-day series against South Africa in the UAE in October 2010, and left-arm fast bowler Sohail Tanvir, who lead the Rawalpindi Rams cricket team in PCB T-20 cricket tournament where he not only performed wonderfully but also won the event under his captaincy.
The squad seems to be an experimental one, with the bowling attack in particular featuring several new names and missing some of the senior players. Umar Gul, Tanvir Ahmed and Wahab Riaz, who have been Pakistan's three premier fast bowlers in recent times, have all been rested, with Sohail Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Cheema and Junaid Khan making up the pace attack. There is also a change in the spin department with Abdur Rehman being rested and Yasir being given an opportunity.
Pakistan squad: Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Mohammad Hafeez, Taufiq Umar, Imran Farhat, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal, Rameez Raja junior, Adnan Akmal (wk), Saeed Ajmal, Yasir Shah, Sohail Tanvir, Sohail Khan, Junaid Khan, Aizaz Cheema.
